Ian Streeter is the Founder and Managing Director of Bull & Bear Financial Strategies. With over two decades of experience, Ian has been a Financial Planner since 2005. He has worked at two of Australia’s largest banks and further developed high-level trading strategies during his time at two investment banks, where he also gained deep insights into the Efficient Market Hypothesis and related trading methodologies. Ian held a Senior Financial Planner role when he left the banking sector to establish his own company and financial planning licence, bringing with him a wealth of industry knowledge and frontline advisory experience.
Ian holds six diplomas, including Financial Planning, Mortgage Broking, Accounting, Real Estate, and Leadership and Business. His broad and practical education supports a well-rounded, strategic approach to personal and commercial finance.
He is also a highly experienced share trader, having actively traded stocks and managed investments on behalf of clients for over two decades. His trading expertise is backed by a strong understanding of market dynamics and a hands-on approach to portfolio strategy.
Ian has managed large teams of Financial Planners and Mortgage Brokers, overseeing their performance, compliance, and professional development. His leadership has contributed to building a strong advice culture focused on integrity, results, and long-term client relationships.
He has also acted as a mentor in mortgage broking and mentored new financial planners into the industry, including preparing them for and guiding them through the Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) board exam.
Ian holds qualifications in accounting and has worked professionally as an accountant, further strengthening his financial expertise and ability to provide holistic advice across personal wealth, tax, and business finance matters.
His vision that financial planning should not be a privilege reserved for the wealthy, but a service accessible to everyday Australians including the poor and middle class, led him to franchise and license Bull & Bear Financial Strategies across multiple Australian states. This expansion allowed more communities to benefit from ethical, affordable, and practical financial advice.
To support this growth and ensure operational efficiency, Ian also established a back-end outsourcing company in the Philippines, which handles core administrative and client support functions.
Ian is a fully qualified Mortgage Broker and personally holds a Mortgage Broking Credit Licence. He was registered as a Tax Advisor with the Tax Practitioners Board. He also holds specialist qualifications in Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) Advice, Margin Lending, and is authorised to provide advice and trade ASX-listed blue-chip shares.
For more than 20 years, Ian has handled and mentored numerous Financial Planners, helping shape the next generation of professionals across the industry.
As the driving force behind Bull & Bear, Ian continues to lead the team and oversee strategic direction, ensuring clients receive trusted, results-oriented financial guidance across wealth management, mortgage broking, and tax-effective strategies.Qualifications
